WebCommerce Silver is a Secure Shopping Cart system, which lets online merchants offer the same "one click shopping" capabilities used by amazon.com and CDnow. Customers can surf the web, use "click to shop" technology to keep track of their orders, and when checking out, their order is presented to them as an invoice. A neatly laid out, easy to understand form collects their shipping and payment information, and automatically sends them a detailed receipt by email.

WC Silver uses Netscape SSL secure server technology, and Verisign digital security certificates to ensure complete customer buying confidence. Secure payment can be made through Credit Cards or Online TeleChecking. Shoppers who still don't trust the security of the web have the option of arranging payment by fax/phone/mail using an invoice (including sales tax and shipping charges) which is instantly emailed to them .

When an order has been placed, it is assigned a tracking number automatically, and the storefront receives an invoice by email showing the order only, no sensitive information. The email invoice links to the storefronts private SSL secure password protected directory, where the sensitive credit card information can be retrieved through a web browser. When the order is retrieved, a series of user defined customer service responses are available. Some examples would be...

• "Your order has been processed and will ship on the next business day."
• "Your credit card has been declined and your order has been cancelled."

By choosing a preset response, or by typing a personalized message into the invoice itself, the order is entered into an order tracking database. Customers who have placed orders have 24 hour a day, 7 day a week access to this database, so they can inquire as to their order status without incurring the expenses associated with customer service personnel, toll free numbers, fax lines, individual responses to email, and the like.

WC Silver has dozens of user-configurable options, and can be configured to visually match any site. No graphics are used except for those supplied by each storefront, to ensure that shoppers won't be bogged down by long downloads.

Shipping is automatically calculated in any one of 9 different methods for the default shipping zone (ie. US shipping for US companies) and a link is provided from the cart to the storefronts' page detailing international and premium shipping rates. Free Shipping can be set for orders over a certain dollar amount.

A variety of discount options (flat rate or percentage discounts) are available for "coupon" or group rate sales. Sales Tax (including Canadian GST where required) is calculated and added automatically.

There is no limit to the number of items sold at each storefront, and options can be added to items in a variety of ways. For example, if T-shirts are offered for sale, a drop down menu can be used to select sizes of S,M,L,XL,2XL, and 3XL, with $2.50 added to the XL sizes automatically.
